Submission Deadline: May 28, 11:59PM PST WATCH & WINNERS: in LA on May 30, Noon PST! The Competition This is part of OpenArt's process to find you. You'll have up to 9 days to make something around the theme. Submit your work and the best entries screen live at the event. Top three take home: 🥇 1st — $1,500 in credits + $500 cash 🥈 2nd — $700 in credits + $300 cash 🥉 3rd — $250 in credits + $200 cash To assist with competition production, OpenArt grants 30K credits to everyone who submits their work to enter the competition. 🎬 Theme: Open / Close Your story, your call — but it has to revolve around one (or both) of two words: open and close. One rule: the OpenArt logo has to appear somewhere in your film. How it shows up is entirely up to you. Be creative; we want to see the logo become part of the story, not stapled to the end. Logo files + a set of reference characters and images are in this folder — feel free to use them, remix them, or ignore them entirely. Your call. What You Can Submit A short film, commercial, music video, or trailer built around the announced theme. 30 seconds to 1 minute preferred, longer is acceptable. It doesn’t need to be a fully resolved narrative — a scene, a fragment of a bigger world, or a single cohesive piece all work. We’re looking for vision and direction, not completeness. How We’ll Judge We invite you to keep the following in mind when creating your videos: Concept / Idea — Originality and clarity of the creative vision. Execution — How well the idea was brought to life. Story — Narrative structure, arc, and emotional impact. Visuals/Art — Aesthetic quality, style, and visual coherence. Creative Confidence — Be bold and make something that represents you and your unique artistic vision! Two Ways to Participate Submit your work and join us at the beach on the event day. Strongly preferred — finalists screen live, prizes are awarded in person, and you’ll have the chance to book a follow-up interview on the spot. Sharp eye, good taste, strong storytelling. You have a body of work you're genuinely proud to share — traditional film, commercials, music videos, animation, or quietly making some of the best AI work on the internet. Whatever your lane, we'd love to talk. AI experience is not a must — we value more your experience, taste, and curiosity & drive to adopt frontier technology.
